New look, proven security: Commend presents its new website!
For over 50 years, Commend has been developing modern communication and security solutions that are used internationally in buildings, transportation hubs and industrial plants. The company thus ensures maximum security in critical infrastructures. As Schneider Intercom the company is also located in Germany as a well-known provider in the world of hands-free systems and security. In order to meet the constantly growing demands placed on modern websites, the website has been completely redesigned. The result is a contemporary, intuitive platform with state-of-the-art security technology. The new website meets the highest technical standards and offers visitors an improved, secure user experience.

Update of the CLibrary
With the CLibrary, Commend enables seamless integration of documents, manuals, safety tips, etc... for interested parties and customers. As part of the relaunch, the TYPO3 system was comprehensively modernized - a complex task for a system that has grown over the years.
A particular highlight is the integrated rights system for different users, which enables flexible management of access rights. This means that customers only receive the documents and information that are relevant to them.
An external penetration test was carried out to ensure maximum security: For two weeks, the system was intensively checked for potential vulnerabilities - one week with public access and another week with full, internal access to all systems. This comprehensive security check went smoothly and the revamped CLibrary went online around a year ago.
Challenges
During the relaunch, particular attention was paid to the requirements of international sales and the multilingual presentation of the website. Although TYPO3 supports many different languages, it reaches its limits with the different combinations of languages and countries. In order to create an optimal solution for the global presence, a customized extension was developed that now makes this possible. This means that a language can now be displayed multiple times for different countries.
A core element of the relaunch was the integration of the company's own ERP system. All product information, from technical data and multilingual descriptions to product images, is automatically uploaded to the website via this complex interface. The system also takes into account the relationships between the products so that, for example, matching components such as brackets or cables can be displayed directly. The new solution gives editors full control over the product presentation and allows them to flexibly decide which products and information should appear on the website.
Infrastructure
A technical milestone of the relaunch is the use of the Microsoft Azure Cloud. Thanks to our extensive cloud expertise, the entire application was implemented in a modern, container-based environment. Deployment is fully automated, while all services are configured via Infrastructure as Code and managed centrally via our in2code GitLab. Through continuous monitoring and proactive maintenance, we ensure that the infrastructure always remains up to date and meets the highest security standards.
Specials
The new website also benefits from a significantly higher loading speed thanks to static HTML pages. This technology means that content is also cached and can therefore be loaded at lightning speed. This reduces the server load and ensures optimum performance, even with a high number of visitors. This improvement can now also be seen in Google Pagespeed.
Through regular coordination and a close exchange with the Commend team during the entire development phase, the project could be optimally adapted to the requirements and successfully implemented. This also enabled us to react flexibly to change requests.
We look forward to supporting and further improving the website in the future and are very excited about what is planned for the future!
